new gallery opening in Dahlonega

A new gallery, Kryder Gallery, has opened in Dahlonega and I'm pleased to have been invited as one of the artists in the initial exhibit. The ribbon cutting was held on Monday, an official opening reception will be on Saturday, June 7 between 2 and 4 p.m. Anyone in the vicinity of Dahlonega, GA, USA--come on by!

The works in the exhibit include installation, photography, painting and tapestry. Jeff Kryder, the owner, wants to showcase art of all media through gallery shows like this one. He would like to both offer invitational exhibits (like the current one) and juried call for entries. His website will be a place to learn of upcoming events at his gallery.

Here's a shot of one of the walls he sent via his phone this morning. I have two tapestries in this view--on the left is a 4-part piece called "Rocks and Water" and right hangs "...and they will be resolved into their own roots...." In the center is a photograph by Paul Dunlap and Trevor Morris--that work is one that's shown on the Kryder Gallery website. Paul teaches photography and other studio courses at North Georgia College & State University; Trevor is a former NGCSU student of photography. The university's art department is quite well known for its small yet exceptionally strong photography program.
