A New Day Arrives--exhibit and a book signing

The new days after the election are dawning with continuing upheaval and uncertainty of when this will come to an end. With votes counted, results announced--and in spite of continuing push-back from the current administration--history was indeed made as the first woman vice president-elect for the nation was selected. Now, let's hope for the best through the next fifty-nine days. And for all of the days to come after Inauguration Day.

Now, on to other news!

My exhibit at the Hambidge Weave Shed Gallery has been extended until December 19. I did a book signing on November 19 between 2 and 5:30 p.m. With masks and safe distancing, of course! The gallery is a large, open room and I didn't have hoards of visitors but there were a few. It was really nice to see old friends and to know that a few more books were sold. The gallery has a small sales area with lots of wonderful pottery and some of my niece's stuffed creations. There are a few of my books remaining and there are books written by other Hambidge Fellows, as well.

A few photos of the gallery with my work installed:

And, happily I'm weaving again on something larger than a teeny tapestry. I'm using natural dyed wool and a wool warp. The image is based on a mixed media collage I made a few years ago. The working title is "Memories of Ferns"--that might change later but right now it seems appropriate.

  1. It is wonderful to see your show. I wish I could see it in person. This new piece is mystical--really wonderful.

    1. Thanks, Rebecca! I'm so glad to be weaving again on a piece that is one I hope to exhibit in 2021. I've continued to weave small things and, of course, weave each day on my tapestry diary. But I've tried hard to make a practice of weaving at least one "major" piece each year. This will be that one... not the 60" wide x 30" high one from last year but respectable enough in size.

  2. Wish I had known about your show and book signing as I would have driven up! Is the center wheelchair accessible? Always a day late/dollar short........but the show is still there! I have a trip to Alexandria, Va on Dec 5th through the 8th, but can come up if it's WC accessible. Can you let me know. Love and enjoy your style of weaving. Waiting for your new book in the Spring to learn about your weaving techniques. was awarded a grant from HGA just recently to take a course with Rebecca. We've been chatting for years now and I admire her also, though it's realism that is my goal in tapestry. So glad that ya'll are collaborating! Hope to meet you someday.

    1. Thanks for your comments! The gallery is wheel-chair accessible through the office, I believe. I'd suggest you contact the Center to confirm that and that it will be open when you'd plan to go by. The contact info is at the Hambidge website: hambidge.org in their "About" section.

  3. I bought your book, love it. I need to drive down at some point from New Brunswick Canada and get you to sign it. It’s just a great excuse to finally meet after so many years, love and light, James Nightingale. ❤️🙏🇨🇦✌️
