More tapestry progress...and more needed!

Here's the state of the tapestry as I stopped weaving around 11 last night.  I'm having a slow go for the last 1/4 of the piece!  While the start and middle challenges were invigorating I'm now struggling.  I'm making color choices constantly since I'm only very loosely following the color ideas in the initial drawing.  This is tiring for me now especially since I need to have this piece off the loom and finished for hanging within a couple of weeks.  I'll be designing something that's very determined from the beginning next, I feel!  Or maybe not...the pain of each piece recedes after awhile.

  1. Tommye, I have LOVED watching the evolution of this piece and I for one think it is gorgeous. You are an inspiring craftsperson and I for one treasure your blog...oh that I were so energetic as to get half done that you do.

  3. I know what you mean, Tommye. In the beginning of a piece you have that 'what will it look like?' enthusiasm to keep you working. Then it seems the momentum lags through the middle, and especially the upper part. But I always get another burst right at the end, as I'm anxious to get it off and really see the whole tapestry. It looks like that will come soon for you. Looks great so far!

  4. Thanks for the commiseration, Kathy! I KNOW you know what it feels like. BTW, I'm going to try your blocking method on this one, I think. I've never blocked a tapestry before but this one has some buckling that will probably be magnified when I cut it off. I'll be mounting it on a fabric covered board rather than hanging free.
