May Marches On

Yes, May* is almost done.  And so is my tapestry diary for the month.  I've almost completed the last of the ginkgo leaves, my May month theme.  Here's where I got to today:

Here's the way the back of my year looks, so far:

Lots of loose ends.  Kind of like life, isn't it?  Well, I guess that's not really an accurate way to say it since none of these ends are really loose.  All are hitched into place along with the rest of the tapestry.  So how does this apply to life now?  Loose ends may really be connected to the whole of one's life.  Just maybe needing to be tidied up occasionally.

Some of the loose ends in my life right now are finishing preparations for my upcoming class at Arrowmont (less than a month away!) and continuing weaving on the bloodroot tapestry (not yet at the half-way point!)

I had a bit of good news the other day when I got an email to say that one of my submissions for Materialities: Contemporary Textile Arts has been accepted for the catalog.  There will be an exhibit from some of the works from the catalog.  I haven't yet heard if my tapestry will be among those.

It's a beautiful day here in north Georgia, at least this morning.  Farmers Market today in town and I'm off to see what's there!

*May was the month when I first began this daily journey.  May of 2008.  I tried it for a month and wasn't sure I'd have the stamina to complete it!  I did and began my first full year effort in 2009.  Now here I am, almost half-way into the seventh year of this daily adventure.  A habit of making.  A loose end of my life that I feel compelled to tie up every day.

  1. Congratulations on the book! And on the tapestry diary journey. I love this year's work so much. I can't wait to see the entire year all finished. It is enchanting.
