Four feather days this week

My husband cringes when I say to him, "Come see how much I've gotten woven today!"  Not because he doesn't like my tapestry work but because it seems like watching a tapestry grow is sort of like watching grass grow.

HOWEVER, I have made some progress this week even if I'M the only one who sees it!  I usually photograph tapestries periodically as I work on them but I've been doing it each day before I leave the studio, a quick photo with my phone.  Here's a composite of four days of work this week; read them from left to right, top to bottom and excuse the image quality, please:

Below is a better shot of the overall view on 1-30-13

  1. Love the shading detail hatched along the vertical edges; IMHO it's a design element that works really well in this piece.

  2. It's interesting to see all the seemingly same bobbins, but one can tell they're making the light shimmer around the feathers. Thanks for sharing the progress!

  3. Anyone who has done any tapestry knows that there is a LOT of progress shown in these pictures! Your shading really makes the feathers move!

  4. Tommye, these daily photos were a great idea. The feathers are looking beautiful and it has helped me gauge my own progress. I have been thinking that I must be incredibly slow even by tapestry standards, but maybe I am not as slow as I thought.Your work is outstanding!

  6. Now there is some good tapestry progress! I love the quick photo every day. It gives you a real feel for how much progress you've made--sort of like time lapse photography. Your feathers are beautiful.
