the end of this retreat draws near!

Here's where I've spent part of the time... on the porch with the weavings.  I've also used the porch as a drawing/painting studio.

Here are a few of the drawings I've done while here--although they're more mixed media that straightforward drawing, I guess.  I tend to use whatever medium seems to be needed to make the marks I want.  And that might be soft pastel, oil pastel, acrylic paint, graphite stick... or in one case, even Georgia red mud, charcoal from a fire pit, and rain!

  1. Are you amazingly restored when you leave these great places you have been? I love the third painting down. Will you translate these into tapestry or are they standing on their own?

  4. Yes, Lauren... restored but it takes a bit of time to get back to reality and adjust to working as I have to here.
The third painting... several people have mentioned that to me. It was done on the eve of the solstice...my response to the sun going down on the longest day of the year. I don't know how any of these, or the others I did while there, may work into tapestry designs... just got to see what develops!
